After listening to an audiobook, one deep question stuck in my mind:
This was a cornerstone moment for his carreer, as it was the moment when he verbalised what he only thought in the past – becoming teh biggest movie star in the world. This guided his actions moving forward.
I journeyed through a lot of books beyond that point peaking with the reading of a classical psychology book I had in my Kindle for some years now, and this one really sang to me: Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience, by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
I took it slowly, in small chunks, building bit-by-bit the components I longed to have in my life, and getting in the flow more often was one of the identified missing pieces.
Creating a work routine really helped more easily achieve that state.
After I’ve proactively cleared 2 hours of my calendar the day (or week) before, the routine I’m going through consists of:
- Clean my office
- Refill my bottle of water
- Daily planning (I do it in AkiFlow)
- Close distracting apps (Email, Slack)
- Put the phone in a drawer on Do Not Disturb
- Breathe in :) and go.
The answer to the burning question
Making life a continuous flow experience, keep connecting the dots for improving by a little bit every day really helps in unlocking movement in the direction you want to go in.
I realized that I’m really happy and I love my life now and and so 10 years I want to be really happy and love my life, and I don’t care much of how that looks like.
Improving every day is what I want.
